Core Axioms

The six core axioms that ground every Ethotechnics standard, mechanism, and validator — burden, bindingness, stoppability, contestability, care infrastructure, and temporal rights.

Status

Versioned doctrine

Axioms are immutable, cross-referenced in standards, and maintained alongside the glossary.

Axioms

The axioms of accountable systems

Use these as a doctrinal checklist when authoring or auditing standards.

  1. Axiom 1 — Finitude: Human attention is finite and must be treated as a protected resource.

  2. Axiom 2 — Consent: Legitimate systems secure informed consent at every critical handoff.

  3. Axiom 3 — Stewardship: Operators accept full responsibility for the outcomes and latency of their automation.

  4. Axiom 4 — Reversibility: High-impact actions require safe rollback paths and transparent appeal channels.

  5. Axiom 5 — Legibility: Users must be able to see, understand, and audit the burden imposed on them.
