Definition
The engineering posture required when mathematical optimization reaches its boundary. It acknowledges that optimizing any metric or reward function inevitably creates Goodhart drift, omits qualitative realities, and produces residual complexity.
Post-optimization rigor does not attempt to solve model incompleteness by endlessly adding more parameters or objective terms. Instead, it engineers the institutional architecture around the model: establishing independent review, measuring uncounted absorption, guaranteeing corrective standing to affected parties, and enforcing revocable authority grants.
